Receipe3: Mee Bakso


Date of Cooking: 14/09/2011
Time taken: 8.00 am to 8.45 am
Method of Cooking: Boiling and Stir-fry
Ingredients:-
1 packet of Ezy cook noodles/ bee hoon
4 pieces of beef meatballs
1 piece of Japanese green vegetables
1 teaspoon of chopped garlic
1/2 cube of beef stock
1/2 cube of ikan bilis stock
1 packet/bundle soup spices(sup bunjut)
1 teaspoon of pepper
1 teaspoon of ginger powder
1/2 teaspoon sugar
A pinch of salt
2 bowls of water for noodles
1 bowl for vegetables
11/2 bowl of water for soup
2 tablespoons of olive oil for boiling noodles and vegetables
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil for soup

Garnishing
Fried shallots
Sweet black sauce chili
Chili paste

How to cook:-

A) Noodles/bee hoon


-Heat 2 bowls of water with one teaspoon of olive oil in a pot.
-Put noodles/bee hoon into hot water.
- Boil for 2 minutes. Stir occasionally until cooked.

-Drained noodles/bee hoon in a sieve.
-Run noodles/bee hoon under tap water.
-Drained and put aside.

B) Vegetables:-
-Boil 1 bowl of water with 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a pot.
-Put a pinch of salt.
-When water is boiled, soaked vegetables in the water for 3 minutes.

-Drained and put aside.

C) Meatball soup:-

-Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pot.
-Stir fry chopped onion until fragrant.
-Put in ginger and powder.

 


-Pour 11/2 bowl of water.
-Put in beef and ikan bilis stocks, meatballs and soup spices.
-Cooked until boiled. Put half teaspoon sugar and stir until dissolved.

How to serve:-
1) Place noodles/bee hoon in a bowl.
2) Arrange vegetables on the noodles/bee hoon.
3) Scoop out meatballs and arrange on the noodles/bee hoon.
4) Pour soup to cover the noodles/bee hoon.
5) Garnish with fried shallots.
6) Serve with black chili sauce and chili paste.

Chili sauce with chili paste

Accompaniments:-
Serve the dish hot with a cup of cold water with a thin lemon slice or a hot peppermint tea.

Comments and recipe modifications:
This dish can be modified to suit the needs of an individual.
For an example;
Noodles can be substitute for bee hoon, meatballs sliced and vegetables cut small when preparing for a child or a senior citizen.
For healthier choice, bee hoon can replaced the noodles.
